TMC Government Run by “Party-Sheltered Criminals”, Alleges PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, alleging that the administration is being run by “criminals sheltered by the party” rather than from the state secretariat.

Addressing an election rally in Arambag’s Haripal area in Hooghly district, Modi claimed that the ruling party’s reliance on “anti-social elements” often forces intervention by the judiciary, including the Calcutta High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

The Prime Minister also promised that if the BJP comes to power in the state, its first Cabinet decision would be to implement the Centre’s flagship health scheme, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. He noted that West Bengal currently runs its own health programme instead.

Referring to the record 93.19 per cent voter turnout in the first phase of Assembly elections, Modi said the high participation reflected public dissatisfaction with the state government. He urged voters to surpass this figure in the upcoming phase.

Modi further alleged a decline in industrial growth in Hooghly and promised to develop the district into an industrial hub if the BJP forms the government. He also criticised the situation of farmers, particularly potato growers, claiming they are exploited by syndicates.

Accusing the ruling party of failing to ensure women’s safety, the Prime Minister said crimes against women have increased and pledged stronger measures for their protection and empowerment.

Calling for a change in government, Modi said only a BJP-led administration can restore public trust, ensure development, and meet the aspirations of the people in the state.
