Buffer Zone Subject: Forest Department Constituted Expert Committee

An expert group has been established to conduct a field investigation into the buffer zone issue, according to Forest Minister AK Saseendran.  Within one kilometre of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, the committee is tasked with gathering precise data regarding businesses, residences, and other structures. The committee, whose members include the Additional Chief Secretaries of the Environment and Local Self-Government Departments, the Principal Secretary of the Forest Department, and the former Chief of the Forest Department, James Varghese IFS (Retd), is presided over by Justice Thotathil Radhakrishnan. To support this group technically, a committee of technical experts has also been formed.
