The Central Meteorological Department has warned of intense heat conditions across Kerala on Sunday and Monday (April 26 and 27), with temperatures expected to rise 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal.
According to the forecast, Palakkad district may record temperatures up to 40°C, while Kollam could see up to 39°C. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode are likely to experience temperatures of up to 38°C. Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod may see temperatures reaching 37°C, while Thiruvananthapuram is expected to record around 36°C.
A yellow alert has been issued for these districts. Authorities have cautioned that high temperatures combined with humidity may lead to uncomfortable weather conditions, particularly in non-hilly regions.
The State Disaster Management Authority has urged the public to take precautions against heat-related illnesses such as sunstroke, heat exhaustion, and dehydration. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary safety measures during peak daytime hours.
