The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) witnessed a sharp increase in revenue and passenger footfall during the Onam holiday rush, with additional services and improved scheduling helping meet the surge in demand.
The corporation recorded a record daily collection of Rs 8.07 crore on Chathayam day (Friday). According to KSRTC, as many as 3,787 buses operated across the state, covering 12.78 lakh km and carrying 22,02,992 passengers on the day.
Of the total revenue, Rs 2.30 crore was generated through the Priyadarshini free-ticket scheme for women, the corporation said in a statement issued on Saturday.
Officials attributed the strong performance to the deployment of additional buses and more effective service planning during the Onam season.
