The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert warning of high temperatures across Kerala, with heat levels expected to remain above normal until April 24.
According to the department, Palakkad district is likely to record the highest temperature, touching up to 40°C. Kollam may see temperatures rise to 39°C, while districts including Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod are expected to experience temperatures up to 37°C. In Thiruvananthapuram, the mercury is likely to reach around 36°C.
Officials noted that temperatures across the state are expected to be 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal. The combination of high temperatures and humid conditions is likely to cause discomfort and heat stress, particularly in non-hilly regions.
The weather department has cautioned residents to take necessary precautions, as hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected to persist over the coming days.
