New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and conveyed his condolences on the passing of the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Paying tribute to the late leader, Prime Minister Modi described him as the chief architect of modern Qatar and praised his visionary leadership. He also recalled Sheikh Hamad’s significant role in strengthening India-Qatar relations and his affection for India and the Indian community in Qatar.
The Amir of Qatar thanked Prime Minister Modi for his support and appreciation during the difficult time. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India-Qatar Strategic Partnership and enhancing people-to-people ties, while agreeing to remain in close contact.
