West Bengal Drops ‘Dham’ from Digha Jagannath Complex Name

Kolkata: The West Bengal government has decided to remove the word “Dham” from the name of the Jagannath complex in Digha, citing respect for the Jagannath Dham in Puri.

Speaking at a Rath Yatra programme in Tamluk on Thursday, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said the facility in the seaside town will now be known as the Digha Jagannath Cultural Centre.

He said the decision was taken to honour the religious significance of Puri Jagannath Dham.
