New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman exchanged sharp remarks on social media on Wednesday over the ongoing leadership dispute within the Tata Group.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha accused the government of allowing the conglomerate to be “criminally destroyed” and questioned why business leaders were remaining silent on the issue.
Rahul Gandhi also responded to Sitharaman’s criticism that he should refrain from politicising every issue. He questioned the Finance Minister over the circumstances under which representatives of Tata Trusts and Tata Sons were hosted at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In his post on X, Gandhi asked when he described as “crony number 1” would enter the dispute and what parts of the Tata Group would be affected.
The exchange comes amid an ongoing leadership tussle involving the Tata Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates, bringing the issue into the political spotlight.
