Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings on the occasion of Jagannath Rath Yatra, describing it as a symbol of India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage. He wished for peace, prosperity, good health and unity in society, saying the festival reflects humility, collective participation and selfless service.
The world-famous Rath Yatra began in Puri, Odisha, with lakhs of devotees participating in the annual procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra. During the festival, the deities are taken from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple on decorated wooden chariots pulled by thousands of devotees.
Meanwhile, Ahmedabad in Gujarat also witnessed its annual Jagannath Rath Yatra, the country’s second-largest procession after Puri, attracting lakhs of devotees.
