New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for a constructive and productive Monsoon Session of Parliament, urging lawmakers to engage in meaningful debates that contribute to the nation’s progress.
Addressing the media before the commencement of the session, the Prime Minister drew a parallel between the monsoon season and Parliament’s functioning, expressing hope that just as the monsoon benefits the country, the parliamentary session would also deliver positive outcomes for the people.
Highlighting India’s recent achievements, Modi said the country had witnessed a series of significant milestones over the past month. He praised private space startup Skyroot Aerospace for its successful orbital mission, describing it as a landmark moment for India’s private space sector. He said the achievement reflected the talent and aspirations of the country’s youth and strengthened India’s position on the global stage.
The Prime Minister attributed such successes to the government’s reform-oriented policies, saying they had created an environment that encourages innovation, entrepreneurship, and risk-taking among young Indians.
Modi also highlighted several major infrastructure and technology projects inaugurated recently, including a large oil refinery in Rajasthan, the country’s third semiconductor manufacturing plant, and the launch of what he described as the world’s longest and most powerful green hydrogen train. He credited scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and workers for these achievements.
Referring to the ongoing conflicts in West Asia, the Prime Minister acknowledged concerns over disruptions in global supplies of fuel, LPG, fertilizers, and chemicals. Despite these challenges, he said India’s economy had demonstrated resilience, citing a 7.7 per cent growth rate.
Calling on Members of Parliament to make the most of the session, Modi appealed for issue-based discussions backed by facts and logic. He urged legislators to ensure that every voice is heard while avoiding unnecessary disruptions, saying constructive debates would help guide the country towards further development.
