New Delhi: Left parties on Monday strongly condemned the police action against protesters during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ march in the national capital, accusing the BJP-led Central government of suppressing democratic dissent.
The parties reiterated their demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the ongoing controversy.
Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leaders, including General Secretary M.A. Baby, Brinda Karat, and Politburo members Vijoo Krishnan, Arun Kumar, and Mariam Dhawale, joined the protest at Jantar Mantar in support of the agitating students.
In a series of posts on X, the CPI(M) alleged that the government had responded to peaceful student demonstrations with police force instead of addressing their concerns. The party described the police action as an attempt to stifle democratic voices and expressed solidarity with the protesting students.
