Thanjavur: Tamil Nadu Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has come under criticism after an alleged remark referring to actor Trisha during a public protest over the Cauvery water dispute sparked controversy.
Udhayanidhi was addressing a protest meeting in Thanjavur, where he criticised Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over the state’s Cauvery water issue. He alleged that Tamil Nadu had not received a single drop of Cauvery water while accusing the Chief Minister of failing to address the matter.
The controversy arose when some members of the crowd shouted “Trisha, Trisha” during his speech. Udhayanidhi briefly paused before responding with what critics have described as a double-meaning remark, triggering strong reactions from political leaders and social media users.
The alleged comment has since drawn widespread criticism, with opponents accusing the opposition leader of making an inappropriate and offensive remark. Supporters and critics have engaged in a heated debate online, further intensifying the controversy.
