India and Fiji held talks on strengthening defence cooperation, with a focus on maritime security, cyber training and collaboration in the defence industry.
The discussions took place during the second India-Fiji Bilateral Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting held in New Delhi on Monday.
Senior officials from both countries reviewed several areas of mutual interest, including military training, capacity building and greater engagement between their armed forces.
The two sides also discussed service-to-service cooperation, cyber training, defence industry partnerships and measures to strengthen institutional ties between their respective armed forces, the Defence Ministry said.
During the meeting, India reaffirmed the importance it attaches to Fiji and other Pacific Island countries as part of its vision for a free, open, inclusive and secure Indo-Pacific.
The talks are expected to further strengthen defence and security cooperation between India and Fiji.
