Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures, with the Meteorological Department issuing warnings of intense heat conditions across the state. At the same time, slight relief is expected as light rainfall is likely in parts of southern and central Kerala.
Rain is forecast in districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki. However, heat conditions similar to a heatwave are being experienced in many regions.
A high temperature alert has been issued for 12 districts, with Palakkad likely to record temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius. The weather department has indicated that the intense heat is expected to persist for at least two more days.
Except for Wayanad and Idukki, most parts of the state are recording daytime temperatures above 37 degrees Celsius, raising concerns over public health and safety.
