Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has defended the amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), stating that the changes were introduced to prevent the misuse of foreign funds for money laundering and were not aimed at targeting any particular community.
Responding to concerns raised by several Christian organisations over the FCRA amendments, Chandrasekhar said the issue had been unnecessarily politicised by the Congress during the election campaign.
“The Congress turned this into a major political issue during the elections, and as a result, we lost significant support from the Christian community,” he told reporters on Friday.
He reiterated that the amendments were intended solely to strengthen transparency and accountability in the use of foreign contributions, dismissing allegations that any specific community was being singled out.
