New Delhi: The night sky is set to put on a breathtaking show as a total lunar eclipse unfolds on March 3 this year. According to the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the spectacular event will be visible from most parts of the world, barring a few far western regions.
The eclipse will be prominently visible across East Asia, Australia, the Pacific region, and large parts of the Americas. The entire celestial event will span approximately 3 hours and 27 minutes, offering skywatchers ample time to witness the rare phenomenon.
The eclipse will commence at 3:20 PM and conclude at 6:48 PM, with the total phase — when the Moon is completely enveloped in Earth’s shadow — occurring between 4:34 PM and 5:33 PM. During this peak phase, the Moon is expected to take on a deep reddish glow, creating the much-anticipated “Blood Moon” effect.
Astronomy enthusiasts and casual observers alike are eagerly awaiting this stunning cosmic display, which promises to be one of the most captivating sky events of the year.
