CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Mahatma Gandhi’s values are being genuinely embraced by Generation Z, while the legacy of the Father of the Nation was earlier largely confined to symbols and memorials, his great-grandson Tushar Gandhi said on Wednesday.
Tushar Gandhi made the remarks during his visit to Mahatma Gandhi Mission University in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He later met Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Dipke at his residence.
Thushar Gandhi said Mahatma Gandhi had for long been represented mainly through statues, memorials and symbolic references rather than through the practice of his principles.
Referring to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he said the campaign prominently uses Gandhi’s spectacles as its logo, but stressed that “internal cleaning” was missing.
He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s use of the term “dimagi Naxal”, describing the remark as an example of what he termed “hate politics”.
