TVK Secures Majority to Form Government in Tamil Nadu

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has crossed the majority mark required to form the government in Tamil Nadu after securing support from alliance partners and independents.

The breakthrough came after the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) formally submitted its letter of support to TVK, strengthening the party’s position. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) also extended support, with its two MLAs handing over letters backing the Vijay-led party.

With the latest developments, TVK’s tally has risen to 120 seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark in the Assembly.

Sources said TVK leader Vijay is expected to meet the Tamil Nadu Governor later in the day to stake claim to form the government.

Earlier, Vijay was expected to take oath as Chief Minister at 11 am on Saturday. However, the swearing-in ceremony was postponed after the Governor reportedly pointed out that TVK had only 116 seats and needed additional letters of support to prove a clear majority.
