Shivraj Singh Chouhan Calls for Sustainable Farming at Haryana’s ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’

Rewari: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday called for sustainable farming practices, balanced fertiliser use, and conservation of natural resources while addressing the concluding ceremony of the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save the Farm Campaign) in Haryana.

The event, held at the College of Agriculture in Bawal, Rewari district, also marked the launch of the Haryana Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) Mission. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presided over the programme.

Addressing farmers, agricultural experts, and public representatives, Chouhan urged farmers across the country to adopt practices that protect farmland and ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.

He said “Save the fields, save the future” should become a national resolve, adding that balanced use of fertilisers is essential for maintaining soil health and protecting the environment.

The Union Minister expressed confidence that the Haryana model of agriculture would inspire farmers across the country and said the foundation of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ lies in the prosperity of farmers.

Highlighting the role of technology in agriculture, Chouhan said future farming would increasingly rely on digital tools, with mobile phones helping farmers understand the nutritional needs of their soil.

He also announced that the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ would now be expanded into a nationwide mission and appealed to farmers to embrace natural farming and water conservation as key strategies for ensuring a sustainable agricultural future.
