New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, highlighting India’s progress in digital connectivity and technology.
Greeting Air Warriors on Air Force Day, Modi also paid tribute to veteran actor Nana Patekar, who died earlier in the day.
The Prime Minister noted that India now has over 5.5 lakh 5G base stations, with 5G connectivity reaching every district and internet speeds increasing significantly.
He said mobile connectivity has become a key tool of governance and has helped expand access to digital education, banking, healthcare and government services.
Modi said more than Rs 50 lakh crore had been transferred directly to beneficiaries through digital platforms, helping prevent leakages. He also highlighted the PM-KISAN scheme, under which over Rs 4 lakh crore has been transferred directly to farmers.
He said the India Mobile Congress has emerged as an important platform for India’s telecom and technology growth.
