Gopeshwar: The doors of the Sikh shrine Gurudwara Sri Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district were closed for the winter season on Saturday.
Located at an altitude of around 15,000 feet, the shrine witnessed the participation of Sikh pilgrims from India and abroad in the closing ceremony despite harsh weather and severe cold. Devotees attended the final prayers of the season, officials said.
The shrine opened in May this year, and more than 3.84 lakh pilgrims visited it during the season.
