Raipur: Deccan Gold Mines Ltd (DGML) has identified the potential for more than 4 million tonnes of mineral deposits at its Bhalukona critical minerals project in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district, following preliminary exploration.
In a statement issued on Monday, the company said geological modelling based on exploration drilling data indicated mineralisation exceeding 4 million tonnes, with an estimated grade of around 0.24 per cent nickel equivalent.
DGML, which focuses on gold and critical mineral resources, obtained a 30-square-kilometre Composite Licence for the Bhalukona-Jamnidih block in Basana tehsil on April 1, 2025. The licence covers exploration and potential mining of nickel, copper and platinum group elements (PGE).
The company said the initial findings were based on preliminary geological assessments of drilling results from the project area.
A Composite Licence allows a company to undertake mineral exploration and subsequently proceed with mining activities, subject to the applicable approvals.
