Tata Group’s stability vital to Indian economy; differences must be resolved amicably, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman

MUMBAI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday stressed the importance of resolving the ongoing differences between Tata Sons and Tata Trusts through mutual discussions, saying the issue has significant implications for the Indian economy.

Referring to the tensions between Tata Sons and its largest shareholder, Tata Trusts, the Finance Minister said the matter should be settled amicably at the earliest and should not become a public controversy.

Meanwhile, responding to concerns over foreign investor outflows and increasing demands for tax reductions, Sitharaman refrained from making specific comments. However, she acknowledged being sensitive to the growing concerns and demands being raised.

Highlighting the economic significance of the Tata Group, she said the differences between the two entities needed to be addressed responsibly and resolved without further public escalation.
