Thiruvananthapuram: Senior CPI(M) leader Puthalath Dinesan has admitted that shortcomings in the party’s Assembly election campaign contributed to the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) defeat in Kerala.
In a Facebook post, Dinesan said controversies over candidate selection in the Payyannur and Thaliparamba constituencies, delays in addressing the Sabarimala gold plate controversy, and the party’s failure to effectively counter the UDF’s campaign adversely affected the election outcome.
The CPI(M) state secretariat and central committee member said the leadership’s decisions on candidate selection did not yield the expected results and acknowledged that the party failed to act with the necessary urgency in handling the Sabarimala controversy.
