‘Vrithi Campaign’ Launched in Thrissur to Strengthen Communicable Disease Prevention

Thrissur: The district-level activities of the state-wide Dry Day and Chlorination Campaign aimed at preventing communicable diseases have been launched in Thrissur under the title ‘Vrithi Campaign – Prevention Through Cleanliness’, led by the district administration and the Health Department. The campaign will continue until July 31.

The campaign poster was released by Rajan J. Pallan, MLA, marking the formal launch of the initiative in the district.

As part of the campaign, preventive activities will be carried out on a regular basis, focusing on schools on Fridays, institutions on Saturdays, and households on Sundays. Environmental cleaning and source reduction activities were also conducted at the District Medical Office in connection with the campaign.

The cleanliness drive was inaugurated by Dr. Flemy Jose, Deputy District Medical Officer. The programme was attended by Dr. T.K. Anoop, District Surveillance Officer; Dr. N.A. Sheeja, District RCH Officer; Dr. Jilsho George, District Programme Manager; and staff members of the District Medical Office and the District Vector Control Unit.

Health authorities said source reduction and chlorination activities are being implemented through all healthcare institutions across the district as part of the campaign.

The district-level inauguration of the household-focused Dry Day and source reduction campaign will be conducted by Rajan J. Pallan, MLA, on June 21 at 9 a.m., covering residences in the vicinity of his office. The district-level launch of the Dry Day campaign in schools will also be held at a Government Higher Secondary School as part of the district-wide awareness and prevention efforts.
