New Delhi: Three more Indian nationals, including a five-year-old child, have been rescued from the flood-affected Trishuli Bazaar area of Nepal, taking the total number of Indians evacuated so far to 169, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.
The latest rescue comes as efforts continue to locate 275 Indian nationals still reported missing following the devastating floods in Nepal.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the three rescued Indians have been identified as Abhijit Suresh Pawar, Dipika Abhijit Pawar and their five-year-old child, Samarth Abhijit Pawar.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu is coordinating arrangements for the family’s return to India, Jaiswal said.
Providing a wider update on the situation of Indian nationals, the MEA spokesperson also said 1,907 Indians have safely crossed into Nepal from China.
Indian authorities, in coordination with local agencies in Nepal, are continuing efforts to trace missing nationals and facilitate the safe return of those stranded in flood-affected areas.
