New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has given its nod to the ambitious ₹6,000 crore One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme, designed to provide universal access to high-impact research materials for students, faculty, and researchers across the country.
The initiative aims to democratize access to academic resources by offering a centralized subscription model, ensuring that institutions and individuals can access critical research publications, journals, and databases without financial barriers.
This move aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision to position India as a global leader in research and innovation. The scheme is expected to enhance academic collaboration, encourage cutting-edge research, and foster a culture of innovation among the youth.
By removing cost barriers to accessing research materials, the ONOS scheme seeks to empower educational institutions, promote equitable learning opportunities, and boost India’s global research ranking. Detailed implementation plans and guidelines for the scheme will be announced soon.
