The Congress has begun discussions on the formation of the new cabinet in Kerala following the appointment of V D Satheesan as the Congress Legislature Party leader.
Satheesan met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted a letter of support to stake claim to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers has been scheduled for Monday at 10 am.
The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected MLAs will be held on Thursday. A decision on the composition of the cabinet and the ministers is expected before the swearing-in ceremony.
The government is also planning to appoint N Sakthan as the pro tem Speaker.
The decision to elect Satheesan as the legislature party leader was taken at the Congress legislative party meeting held on Thursday evening. The discussions were led by AICC general secretary Deepa Dasmunsi.
