BJP Alleges IUML Influence Behind Congress Choosing V D Satheesan as Kerala CM

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday criticised the Congress over its decision to appoint V D Satheesan as the next Chief Minister of Kerala, alleging that the move was made under pressure from its ally, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

The Congress had earlier announced Satheesan as its chief ministerial choice, ending days of uncertainty and internal discussions within the party.

Reacting to the development, BJP leaders claimed that the decision reflected the Congress party’s dependence on minority vote-bank politics. The BJP party also alleged that Satheesan was effectively chosen by the IUML, the second-largest constituent in the Congress-led UDF alliance, rather than by Congress legislators.

The BJP further described Satheesan as the “first Muslim League chief minister of Kerala”, intensifying its criticism of the Congress-UDF alliance.
