The Election Commission of India has announced a stringent security plan for the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, scheduled to be held on April 29 across 142 constituencies.
Officials said the Commission has directed security personnel to ensure strict constituency-wise deployment and intensify area domination exercises, particularly in interior lanes and sensitive areas, to guarantee free and fair polling.
The decision was taken during a high-level coordination meeting attended by election officials, senior police officers, and commanders of central forces from three election districts under Kolkata. The meeting reviewed preparedness and strategies to prevent any disruption during voting.
The Commission made it clear that any attempt to intimidate voters or obstruct the polling process will be dealt with firmly, aiming to ensure that people can cast their votes without fear.
