Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the achievement of 30 lakh households installing rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, calling it a major step in India’s clean energy journey. Describing the milestone as “commendable,” the Prime Minister highlighted how the scheme is empowering families to reduce electricity bills while contributing to a greener and more self-reliant nation. Launched in February 2024, the ambitious initiative aims to provide rooftop solar systems to one crore households by 2026–27, making it one of the world’s largest residential solar programmes. The rapid adoption reflects growing public participation in renewable energy and strengthens India’s commitment to sustainability, energy security, and a future-ready economy.
