A 26-year-old nurse from Alappuzha succumbed to amoebic meningitis while undergoing treatment, officials said on Friday.
The deceased, Aryamol, daughter of Vijayan and Ambili from Neerkunnam in Ambalappuzha, passed away at the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
She had been receiving treatment after developing symptoms of the infection about a month ago and was initially admitted to the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
Health authorities are monitoring the situation closely following the incident.
