Hotels across the state will remain closed on May 6 in protest against the recent hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices.
The decision was taken at a state committee meeting of the Hotel and Restaurant Association, following a steep increase of ₹993 in the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders.
The association said the sudden price rise, announced after the Assembly elections in five states, has placed a heavy burden on the hospitality sector.
In response, hotel owners have decided to shut operations for a day as a mark of protest against the hike.
