Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday shared an article by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, highlighting the transformative impact of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana on women’s empowerment and access to clean cooking energy.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister noted that the scheme represents a significant shift in policy approach, where women are seen not just as beneficiaries but as central to its design and implementation.
The article emphasised that the programme has expanded LPG coverage and enabled targeted subsidy transfers to over 10 crore women. It also pointed out that the transition to clean cooking fuel has helped reduce household air pollution and improve overall well-being.
The focus now, the article added, is on ensuring sustained usage, affordability, and energy justice for beneficiaries.
