V.D. Satheesan Named Kerala Chief Minister; KC Venugopal Extends Support

The Congress high command on Wednesday announced V D Satheesan as the next Chief Minister of Kerala, ending days of speculation following the Assembly election results.

Earlier, there were strong indications that K C Venugopal could be considered for the top post. However, party sources said Satheesan enjoyed greater public support and wider acceptance within the party.

Reacting to the decision, Venugopal said he fully accepted the high command’s choice. “I am a committed Congress worker. The party and the people are above everything else,” he said, while assuring complete support to Satheesan and the new government.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala expressed dissatisfaction, stating that seniority had not been given due consideration in the selection process. Reports suggest that Chennithala was unhappy over not being considered for the Chief Minister’s post.

The announcement is expected to reshape the political dynamics within the Congress in Kerala.
