Champawat: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday flagged off the first batch of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via the Lipulekh Pass from Tanakpur in Champawat district, describing the pilgrimage as a symbol of spiritual consciousness and national harmony.
Amid chants of “Har Har Mahadev”, the Chief Minister welcomed the pilgrims by presenting them with Rudraksha rosaries and ceremonial patkas dedicated to Lord Shiva. He also interacted with the devotees and wished them a safe and auspicious journey, officials said.
The first batch comprises 49 pilgrims, including one doctor, with 34 men and 15 women. The group arrived in Tanakpur from Delhi on Saturday evening before commencing the pilgrimage through the Lipulekh Pass route.
Officials said the state government has made necessary arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of the pilgrims undertaking the annual yatra.
