Washington: The US Postal Service (USPS) has announced that it will release a commemorative postage stamp celebrating the festival of Diwali later this year as part of its upcoming stamp programme.
The Diwali stamp features an intricate rangoli design created by Houston-based artist Sangita Bhutada and photographed by Binay Dixit.
According to the USPS, rangoli is a vibrant decorative floor pattern traditionally made using coloured rice powder, chalk, or flower petals. It is commonly created during festivals and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. The new stamp recognises the cultural significance of Diwali and the rich traditions associated with the festival.
