British health authorities are tracing passengers exposed to a hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship in the South Atlantic, after a third suspected case was reported.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said two British nationals have been confirmed to have the rat-borne virus, while another British passenger is suspected to be infected on board the MV Hondius near the remote island of Tristan da Cunha.
According to officials, no British passengers are currently showing symptoms. However, those exposed are being closely monitored and will be required to isolate for 45 days after returning to the UK.
Health authorities are continuing contact-tracing efforts as a precautionary measure to prevent further spread of the infection.
