JAIPUR: India’s installed non-fossil fuel power generation capacity has crossed the 300 GW mark, accounting for more than 54 per cent of the country’s total installed electricity generation capacity, a senior Union government official said on Monday.
The milestone was highlighted during the first regional roadshow of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo (BRE Summit) 2026, held in Jaipur as part of a nationwide outreach campaign ahead of the main event in New Delhi.
According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India’s installed non-fossil fuel capacity stood at 300.50 GW as of July 31.
The achievement represents more than 60 per cent of the country’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based installed capacity by 2030, underscoring the rapid expansion of India’s renewable and other non-fossil energy sources.
The BRE Summit 2026 is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from November 2 to 5. The regional roadshows are aimed at building wider participation and highlighting investment and development opportunities in India’s renewable energy sector.
The latest capacity milestone comes as India continues to expand its clean energy infrastructure as part of its broader efforts to increase the share of non-fossil sources in the country’s power mix.
