It is time for the polit-buro  to ask Chief Minister  of  Kerala to quit : CPM leaders

By our   special  political correspondent

New  Delhi,  July 05  (IVC)   It  is time for the polit-buro  of  the Communist  Party  of  India-Marxists (CPI(M)  to ask  the  Chief  Minister, Pinarayi  Vijayan , to quit the   post of the,  Chief Minister of Kerala, with  a  view  to  avoiding  the  further  decay  of  the party  in the State, a section of leaders of the party, on anonymity, told  this  correspondent .

The  second  term of  Pinarayi  Ministry  was  of ‘unlimited  arrogance and hubris’  and  has no  leader of the party  was courageous enough  to tell the  truth point-blank  when  the  Chief  Minister  deviated  from the principles  and  policies of the  party, they  said.                All the  ministers in the  cabinet  of  Pinaray i  Vijayan  are sycophants   and  no  one  was  allowed  to  take  any  decision  without  the prior  approval of the  Chief  Minister.

Introspecting the  2024 Lok  Sabha elections ,CPI(M)’s  central  committee in a review here noted  that  in  Kerala, where the  party  could  only win  a  single seat, there  has  been  an “erosion “ in their “traditional  base in several  constituencies to  the BJP”.

“Instances of  arrogant behavior of  cadres from top  to bottom are alienating  the  people  from the  party. The  importance of  rectification  to  eliminate  wrong  trends  and  behavior must be   undertaken  in a  planned  manner” the  panel’s review  said.

This  style  of  functioning the  government   that led to  the party’s  miserable   failure  in the  18th Lok  Sabha elections. CPI(M)  won  only  one seat out  of  a  total 20  seats.  In the elections to the 17th Lok Sabha  2019   also CPM could  win only one  seat  out  of  a  total of  20  seats.

It  was the  appropriate  time  for  the polit-buro  of the  CPM   to  tell  the Chief  Minister  of  Kerala to quit  and appoint a  humble-mouthed  and efficient leader of the    party    for  making  good   of Pinarayi Government’s   flaws  and shortcomings,  they  added.

The  governance  of  Pinarayi  especially  his  second  term of office  was a failure  on all counts such as failure  salaries  to  the Government employees , service and welfare pensioners alike.

Law and order situation was completely broken down.  The students Federation of India(SFI) and Democratic  Youth  Federation  of India  (DYFI)  were let loose  and they were allowed  to  do  anything and every thing with  the  protection of the party and Government.

One  glaring  example of it  was cold-blooded murder of the Veterinary University  student Siddarthan  by  the  SFI activists  and the attitude of the Government  towards  the  accused  was  not behoove of a leftist  government.

The  oration of SFI  leader  at Quilandy on July 03 that  the  Principal of  the Gurudev  College  of  Advanced Studies, Sunil  Bhaskar would  not enter  the  college  on two legs. It should be decided by  the SFI  whether  the  principal  should  walk  on two  legs or  not was  not behoove  of   a student  leader.  It was  a defamatory and  threatening  statement  that  warranted  for punishment. Even if  PB directed  the  Chief  Minister of Kerala  to quit,  he  would  not  do so.  Hence  PB was  careful  in creating  a  ridiculous  position and hence PB beat  about the  bush.

PB was  unanimously  of  the opinion in 1921 that K K Shilaja teacher  to be  inducted  into Pinarayi cabinet  as her performance as Health Minister  was  par  excellence  during COVID-19 pandemic.

The  main reason for  the  miserable  defeat  of CPM in Kerala was due to  large scale erosion of its traditional  vote base.  The Ezhava/Thiyya  community  was  the   strong  supporters  of CPM in Kerala.  In  the  present Lok  Sabha Elections , amongst the  OBC  Ezhavas/Thiyyas   32  per  cent  voted  for the NDA.

The vote  percentage  of  BJP  in the  18th Lok Sabha has  touched  to  19.21  per  cent  as  against  15.64  per  cent  in 2019, registering an increase  of  3.57  per  cent.

BJP crossed 30  per  cent of the  vote in three Lok  Sabha  constituencies in 2024 as  against one  constituency  in  2019.   BJP  came  first in  11  Assembly  segments  in 2024  as  against  one in  2019 and second  in nine  segments    in  2024  as  against  seven  in 2019.  Ezhava community  has  played  an  important  role in increasing the  vote  percentage  of   BJP in Kerala in the  18th  Lok Sabha elections.

BJP  knows well where  is  shoe  is  pinching  and how.   BJP  had  no much  base  in Maharashtra  before it allied with the Shiv Sena.  BJP  gained well in Maharashtra  with its alliance with the Shiv Sena .    Similar  deices are  thrown  by  BJP  to have  grip  in the  politics  of Kerala   and  it has  been successful  in applying its  strategy of  allying  with  the Ezhavas dominated SNDP (Sree  Narayana Dharma Paripala) organization.

Hence  the  apple cart  of either UDF or LDF  rule  in Kerala was upset  with  the elections to the 18th  Lok Sabha.

CPM  was the victim  in the BJPs alliance with the SNDP in Kerala  as aezhavas were the tradition base of the CPM. It  is  the  appropriate  time  for  the CPM leadership  to change  Chief  Minister  and appoint an able  and efficient leader  like  Vrinda Karat  with  a view to gaining the support of OBC  and gain its  lost glory. It would be  enough to do  away  with  the umbrage  of OBC  Ezhavas and Thiyyas  for  not  nominating K R  Gouriamma  as the Chief  Minister  of Kerala in 1987  though  she was  highlighted and  projected  as the Chief Minister  of Kerala during electioneering.
