Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is bracing for extreme heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a heatwave warning for the state. A yellow alert has been declared in Kasaragod and Kannur, where temperatures are expected to reach a scorching 39°C in the coming days.
District-Wise Temperature Forecast:
- Kasaragod & Kannur: Up to 39°C
- Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kottayam, Kollam & Pathanamthitta: Up to 37°C
- Ernakulam & Alappuzha: Up to 36°C
The combination of high temperatures and humidity is likely to cause heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke, dehydration, and sunburn. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has urged residents to stay indoors during peak hours, stay hydrated, and take all necessary precautions to protect themselves from the intense heat.
