Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, urging people to follow the teachings of Lord Buddha.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of peace, compassion and goodwill, and called upon citizens to reaffirm their commitment to these values.
He also shared a Sanskrit subhashitam referring to the teachings of Gautama Buddha, noting that understanding the absence of a permanent self and following the Eightfold Path can lead to freedom from suffering and attainment of supreme peace.
Modi expressed hope that Buddha’s ideals would strengthen the spirit of joy and togetherness in society.
