A heated exchange took place between the BJP-led NDA and opposition parties in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Thursday during a special one-day session on women’s empowerment.
The debate centred around the proposed amendment to the women’s reservation law, which recently failed to pass in the Lok Sabha. The NDA accused opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and Indian National Congress, of obstructing women’s political empowerment.
In response, opposition members said they support women’s reservation but raised questions over the government’s intent and approach.
The session witnessed sharp arguments from both sides, reflecting ongoing political differences over the implementation of women’s quota in legislatures.
