No Evidence Mobile Phones Cause Brain Cancer, New Study Finds

London: A new study has found no evidence that mobile phone use increases the risk of brain cancer, offering reassurance amid long-standing concerns over the health effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic waves.

Electromagnetic waves are a natural part of everyday life and enable technologies such as radio broadcasting, Wi-Fi, satellite navigation, and mobile phone communication. These waves belong to the low-energy end of the electromagnetic spectrum, making them non-ionising radiation with long wavelengths.

Scientists have long studied whether prolonged exposure to radiofrequency radiation from mobile phones could pose health risks, particularly because high-energy ionising radiation, such as X-rays, is known to damage cells and increase the risk of cancer.

However, the latest research found no credible evidence linking mobile phone use to brain cancer. The findings add to a growing body of scientific evidence suggesting that the levels of radiofrequency radiation emitted by mobile phones are not associated with an increased risk of developing brain tumours.

Researchers said the results should help ease public concerns, while emphasising that ongoing monitoring and research will continue as wireless technologies evolve.
