Keralam Assembly to Take Up Demand for Transparency in Election Commission’s Functioning

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Assembly is set to discuss alleged irregularities in the country’s electoral process when its session begins on Monday, amid protests in Delhi and other parts of the country demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

With Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan and leaders of anti-BJP parties from Kerala participating in the ongoing protests, the issue is expected to figure prominently in the Assembly.

According to the agenda circulated ahead of the session, Satheesan will move a resolution calling for greater transparency in the functioning of the Election Commission of India and seeking corrective measures to address alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
