Kerala Considers Mandatory ID Verification for Liquor Purchases

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government is considering making identity card verification mandatory for liquor purchases as part of stricter regulations following the decision to raise the minimum legal purchasing age to 23 years.

Under the proposed system, similar to Karnataka’s “No ID, No Entry” policy, customers whose age is in doubt will be required to produce a valid identity card before purchasing liquor.

The proposal is currently under the consideration of the Chief Minister. A final decision will be taken after detailed discussions on the matter.
