Melbourne: India and Australia on Thursday adopted a Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and promoting a free, open, peaceful, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
The two countries agreed to expand defence exercises, enhance military interoperability, increase information sharing, strengthen maritime security cooperation, and deepen collaboration in defence technology, cyber security, critical minerals, and resilient supply chains.
The declaration also commits both nations to closer cooperation in counter-terrorism, tackling violent extremism, promoting women’s participation in peace and security initiatives, and supporting regional stability through multilateral platforms, including the Quad, ASEAN, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
