Thiruvananthapuram: Isolated parts of Kerala are likely to receive heavy rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert in three districts on Sunday.
Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam have been placed under a yellow alert, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated locations. A yellow alert has also been issued for Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam for Monday (September 21).
The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places across the state.
Meanwhile, Kerala has been experiencing relatively high temperatures over the past few days. Several parts of the state, including hilly and elevated areas, have also reported hot weather despite the possibility of isolated rainfall.
Reduced rainfall has also added to concerns over the state’s power situation. Frequent power interruptions have been reported, particularly during nighttime, with consumers complaining that outages are occurring at different times without a fixed schedule.
There have also been complaints that effective measures have not been taken to address the power shortage despite the situation worsening.
