Thiruvananthapuram: Relatives have alleged that a patient died following a fire at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The complaint was raised by the family of Saneesh, a native of Neyyattinkara. He was admitted after a bike accident. The family said his condition worsened after the fire.
Relatives of another patient alleged that, Krishnankutty from Oyoor, became critical after being shifted to the ICU. The fire broke out on March 17 in the emergency department of the multi-specialty block. Doctors and staff shifted patients to other ICUs. Hospital authorities denied the allegations. They said all patients were safely moved.
Krishnankutty died at 12.45 pm on the day of the fire. Saneesh died the next morning. Authorities said both patients were already in critical condition. They added that the fire was not the cause of death.
