Mananthavady: NDA candidate P Shyam Raj has raised serious concerns about the condition of tribal people in the constituency. He said that even though it is the constituency of the Scheduled Tribes Minister, many tribal families do not have proper housing or drinking water.
Shyam Raj alleged that people in Thirunelli panchayat are living in very poor conditions. Many are staying in plastic huts instead of proper houses. He also said that basic facilities like toilets are still not available in many areas.
According to him, several public welfare schemes of the central government have not reached tribal villages. Shyam Raj added that changing names of schemes to hide failures will not help. He said the issues faced by the people will be exposed before voters. He also criticised both the LDF and the UDF for what he called hypocritical political activities in the region.
